1st East Peckham Brownies

1st East Peckham Brownies

1st East Peckham Brownies

We currently have five leaders in our unit; Snowy Owl, Barney Owl, Woody Owl, Sooty Owl and Little Owl.

This has been a jam packed year so far for our Brownies. At the beginning of this year our brownies decided, after a long pow wow, that they wanted to raise money for cancer research this year. We asked the girls to bring in their donations that would be made to the local cancer research shop and decided that an event was needed to raise as much money as possible. In March we put on the 1st East Peckham Brownies Pantomime of Cinderella, all girls were involved and the performance was a huge success. By selling tickets and having 1st East Peckham guides put on a cake and refreshment sale we raised £179.00. All Brownies and Owls had a fabulous time in the planning, rehearsing and performing of the panto.

Every year we have a pack holiday, where we take the Brownies away for a little Brownie holiday. In April we took the Brownies to Chigwell Row for four days, and had a truly amazing time. We theme the holiday every year and this year’s theme was a cruise ship. We travelled the world as a pack and gained several souvenirs. Activities included; climbing the Great Wall of China, building the empire state building, a Hawaiian luau and a big Brownie campfire, to name but a few. Pack holiday is always brilliant fun and all involved had a fabulous time.

Following on from our pantomime, our Brownies are continuing their charitable project of raising money for cancer research and this year Owls and Brownies took part in the Cancer Research Race for Life in June. This was an amazing event for the girls to be a part of and we have a lot of support in this. So far we have raised almost £770 in addition to the pantomime moneys raised. We will be completing more activities in the summer term to try and raise a grand total of £1000 by the end of the year.

Chips on a campfire more chips on a fire (1)

For the end of term East Peckham Guides joined with the Brownies for a camp fire sing song and chips cooked on the fire. It was the first time we had cooked chips on a camp fire and one that will definitely be repeated.
